Book Note: Laurell K. Hamilton, The Laughing Corpse

I read this book about 7-Dec-2001. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 1994. This note was last modified Saturday, 19-Aug-2006 10:43:01 PDT.

This note does not contain major spoilers for the book.

Second of the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels. The first one wasn't a complete match for me, but had enough good points to get me to read the second one (that I'd already bought).

Finished it quickly, again, but I'm really not moved to get the next one. She's (Anita Blake, the character) too ignorant, society is being too stupid about all the occult stuff turning out to be true, the question of scientific investigation of what's really going on isn't even mentioned, and so forth. Not thought through. With the result that surprises are pulled out of thin air all the damned time. They just don't hold together.

And no corpse (or zombie) laughs, either. It's the name of a club, visited once instead of any of the previously named clubs, for no apparent reason.
