Book Note: Rex Stout, Too Many Women

I read this book about 6-Feb-2002. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1947. This note was last modified Thursday, 19-Dec-2002 16:36:39 PST.

This note does not contain major spoilers for the book.

A Nero Wolfe book, of course.

Not one of my favorites. Too many weirdly crazy people, who Stout doesn't manage to make me fully believe in. And the ending doesn't make sense to me (Archie arranging a very strange and, I expect, unpleasant date at Rusterman's). I don't see why he's doing it.

Generally, I don't think we get given enough information to actually see what Wolfe sees. I don't think these would be very successful if read from that viewpoint. But I like all the continuing characters and most of the one-book characters very well. That's what's good about these books.
