Symlinks

The default config advertised in the wiki is for symlinks to be followed in finding CGI programs, and to allow override of all the things possibly overridden in a .htaccess file, and to follow symlinks.

Does anybody know how to get Apache to tell you about the config installed? I'd like to be able to verify what the Wiki says about the config.

When the link fails to execute, a log entry is made like this:

[Sun Jul 23 21:46:15 2006] [error] [client 63.224.10.78] Premature end of script headers: link-to-t1.cgi, referer: http://dd-b.net/dhtests/symlinks/symlinks.shtml

The behavior is identical whether or not the .htaccess file is present (the file "visible.htaccess.txt" is a copy of the .htaccess file that's present, named to make it easy to look at).

Other tests show that symlinked directories work.
