I read this book about 6-Feb-2002. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 2002. This note was last modified Thursday, 19-Dec-2002 16:19:45 PST.
Novella length, I think. Sorry, don't get over-excited; it's unpublished currently. I don't really want to tantalize people, but on the other hand it's something I read, and I'm sure it will be published soon enough.
Lois has written me to fill in some details:
"Winterfair Gifts" is going to be published as part of an SF-Romance crossover anthology, edited by Catherine Asaro, to be titled Irresistible Forces. It's slated to be out sometime in (early, probably) 2003 by NAL/Roc.And since then I've learned that it's been delayed to 2004. This is of course bad news for fans, but the purpose of the delay is so that the book can be given a bigger promotional push; so at least it doesn't mean the publisher is losing interest or anything.
The story of Miles' actual wedding, and surrounding events. There's some fall-out from a case Miles is just finishing up (that I don't remember reading about).
The wedding guests include Sergeant Taura, who plays a significant role in many parts of the story. It's told entirely from the point of view of Armsman Roic. And Lord Dono was presumably invited, since he attended (I missed connecting his formal name to him, but Lois pointed it out).
I like reading about the hyperactive little git, and the people he collects about himself.
