Book Note: Tom Clancy, The Sum of All Fears #2

This is book 5 of the "Jack Ryan" series.

A low-mental-energy reread. I now recall that Clancy tried to buy the Vikings once. In this book, he blew them up with an H-bomb. So any simplistic theories about why he chose the teams he did are probably wrong.

In many ways America reacted kinda as he anticipated to our first major terrorist attack. Luckily it wasn't nuclear, and they didn't have the coordinated Berlin attack and the random luck of the submarine accident and the Libyan training flight near the US and Russian aircraft carriers in the Med. But we didn't have Ryan to restrain the president, either.
