Book Note: Eric Flint, The Philosophical Strangler

I read this book about 20-Mar-2002. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 2001. This note was last modified Saturday, 19-Aug-2006 10:42:21 PDT.

I'm over half way through, and having mixed feelings. There are nice bits, but I don't feel like the overall shape, or structure, or something, is very good. But then I'm only somewhat over half way through.

I find myself in some way reminded of the feel of Grunts. There's a modern feel to an old fantasy story where it doesn't really fit. We have revolutionaries, and modern philosophies, and rather modern economic and political analysis.

Still, all and all it was somewhat fun and had some neat moments.
