Book Note: W.E.B. Griffin, The Assassin

This is book 5 of the "Badge of Honor" series.

I don't know how I missed reading this until now; the Badge of Honor series isn't anything like my favorite Griffin, but it's still fun. And this has been out 8 years. In fact there seems to be a 6th book that I haven't noticed, either.

There's a rather good plot thread where a loony Christian is going to distintegrate the Vice President of the United States with explosives. Unfortunately they don't let him do it. (One of my favorite bits of Tom Clancy's The Sum of all Fears is that he lets the terrorists blow up the Superbowl.)

The ending is extremely rushed; suddenly all the problems get wrapped up in a couple of declarative paragraphs, we don't get to see anything happen. Must have reached the contracted word-count early or something.
