I read this book about 27-Apr-2015. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 2013. This note was last modified Monday, 04-May-2015 11:57:46 PDT.
By W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth IV.
The time jump in the Philadelphia police universe still bothers me. Carlucci is still mayor, but Inspector Wohl and Special Operations seem to have completely disappeared (no mention at all in this book). Jason Washington is running Homicide, and Matt Payne is a sergeant there. But this mostly takes place in Florida and at sea, where Matt is on vacation with his fiance (who he rescued from a criminal gang in the previous book; she's a doctor). Matt is 27 years old, but time seems to have advanced about 20 years since the first of the series, when Matt is 21.
This one doesn't have any of the sloppiness that I associate with Griffin books after the first few in any series, and doesn't have any of the out-of-left-field Chrstianity that I associate with the books co-authored with his son. We'll call that a win. This one has a relatively self-contained plot that pretty much hangs together.
