Book Note: Reginald Hill, A Clubbable Woman

I read this book about 22-Feb-2010. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 1970. This note was last modified Friday, 30-Apr-2010 17:57:14 PDT.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

First in a series. The murder of the wife of a club rugby player disrupts the village and the club.

The characters introduced go on to a long career, it looks like.

The book has a fair amount of sense of place, and is interesting for that to those of us to whom it's exotic (SF reader preferences stick out). But I didn't find any of the charcters particularly likable or engaging. It is however quite weird to consider that 500 Script Error

was still alive when this was written.
