I read this book about 28-Sep-2004. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 1973. This note was last modified Sunday, 03-Oct-2004 11:18:11 PDT.
John McPhee is a brilliant researcher and writer, about absolutely anything. In this case, it's about some people trying to bring back the big airships. After a wonderfully successful test of their first manned model -- they run out of steam and investment. Rather tragic, actually. I wonder of Aereon was the inspiration for the appearance of hybrid airships/lifting bodies in science fiction around that time?
