By Warren Murphy and James Mullaney. Murphy was one of the original scribblers of the Destroyer series (Sapir died some time ago). I liked Sapir's independent novels much better than Murphy's, but I found a couple of these "New Destroyer Series" books at the Borders fire sale and decided to try them.

This one has an interesting premise. An incompetent news presenter keeps being present when disasters go down, and starts to salvage her career by being the woman on the spot.

This gets traced back through to a guy on the internet planning to take her down by showing her lose control on-camera. As usual, the really bald synopsis sounds even worse than the actual plot.

Both of the New Destroyers I've read recently have a political overlay I don't much care for, being very law-'n-order (except for those nasty laws that protect individual rights) and very skeptical of science.
