I read this book about 21-Sep-2005. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1998. This note was last modified Tuesday, 06-May-2014 13:22:16 PDT.

This is book 19 of the "Aubrey-Maturin" series.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

Yes, Napolean has escaped, resumed control, and begun rearming. And the naval officers suddenly have positions again. And very early, we hear as casual gossip of the death of Governer Wood, and of Diana Maturin. Diana at least managed to take Sophie's mother with her, in a coaching accident at a damned tricky bridge we saw in a previous book.

Jack is now serving as Commodore again, having been in the right place when Napolean escaped.
