Book Note: Patrick O'Brian, The Truelove

I read this book about 24-Aug-2005. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1992. This note was last modified Tuesday, 06-May-2014 13:25:42 PDT.

This is book 15 of the "Aubrey-Maturin" series.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

Now it's a glued American hardcover edition, coming apart even worse than the British. But the paper is still white, anyway.

Published as Clarissa Oakes in the UK. Why do publishers do these idiot things? In the case of the first Harry Potter book, it looks like they believe book-reading Americans are ignorant, which may be arguable (though everybody I know objected to the change). This one, though, makes no sense I can see at all. Why?

Finally, finally, Stephen finds the clue to the highly placed person who was protecting Wray and Ledward. In between, there is much sailing.
