Complicated mess, involving several criminal families. Lots of it happens in Las Vegas. Lots of digging into the far past to establish connections. The far past is the late 1970s these days; shudder.

There's a neat character, a Vegas detective who works both for and against Spenser, and who double-crosses Spenser at one point. Pretty good on his feet, too.
