I read this book about 2-Apr-2008. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1931. This note was last modified Thursday, 22-May-2014 19:45:37 PDT.
Re-reading a couple of these, after moderately bad luck with some new books.
Too much Scottish dialect. Probably she's doing great work getting it right, and allowing for individual differences, and so forth. But I've never had the fascination with dialect that seems to grip some authors.
The portrait of the Scottish artist's haven is quite impressive, and what the artists have to say about each other to Lord Peter is interesting (they seem not to be interested in taking on poses with him).
