These have a different feel from the later novels; probably partly just through being shorter, but it seems to me there's also more feeling around, trying to find the right way to do things. There's more variation in viewpoints, I think.
This has the memorable story of the sculptor who electro-plated his wife and made her into a sofa (modern and not very comfotable), and the lovely story with two imposter Lord Peter's, plus the real one showing up with a letter of introduction. Where the Count serves interesting wines with dinner, and asks them all to comment.
