Book Note: Wen Spencer, Bitter Waters

I read this book about 8-Apr-2007. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 2003. This note was last modified Saturday, 14-Apr-2007 23:48:01 PDT.

Third Ukiah Oregon book (and I'm not sure I've read the second).

Aliens on earth, both as bad guys and as a breakaway sect who are largely good guys, though all wanted by the police. And Ukiah, as the remaining "breeder", is especially important.

These are fun, but do not stand up well under close consideration. I don't actually believe in the alien abilities, especially to take over species they've never before encountered and subvert them at the level of molecular biology.

I do, however, like Ukiah, and his partner Max, and his lover Indigo, and the Pack, and Ukiah's mothers.

In this one, there's a third group, a cult that has learned about the Ontongard and regards them as demons and is working to exterminate them. With some success, even. Ukiah rather confuses them.
