Book Note: Rex Stout, And Be A Villain (#3)

I read this book about 2-May-2006. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1948. This note was last modified Sunday, 11-Dec-2022 18:15:08 PST.

This is book 13 of the "Nero Wolfe" series.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

The strange and high-stakes world of...a weekly radio talk show. Not anything like anything nowadays, I don't think. Clever series of misdirections and outright lies, but eventually the killer is nailed.

The blackmail scheme is brilliant; and the idea of doing it retail, small amounts of money from large numbers of people, is brilliant.

This is one of the books where Wolfe comes near to coming up against Anthony Zeck. In this one, Wolfe lays the groundwork for later by saying that he'll leave his house and work from a hideout if he ever has to seriously confront Mr. Zeck.
