Everybody who has read the manuscript of this unpublished book has died, probably murdered.

Furthermore, the pseudonym on the manuscript is one of the names on a list found at the site of another murder (that Cramer brought to Wolfe six weeks ago).

So Wolfe gets to put it all together. There's a disbarred lawyer, too, on top of everything else.
