Book Note: Charles Stross, Iron Sunrise

I read this book about 24-Jan-2005. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 2004. This note was last modified Sunday, 30-Jan-2005 21:41:25 PST.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

Another book in the Eschaton universe; involving agents of the Eschaton, even. And involving a possible actual threat to the Eschaton itself; which to my mind is never resolved.

This is sort of a post-singularity world. There is transcendant AI (the Eschaton; though apparently no other). There is backup, and clone bodies and memory implantation. There are neural spikes and meat puppets. There doesn't, to me, seem to be the kind of social change that such technology would lead to.
