This is book 4 of the "Honor Harrington" series.
This note does not contain major spoilers for the book.
While this is one of the more severe examples of character abuse, I really like the way Honor is allowed to hit back. And it was sitting around the room waiting to be returned to the library (yes, the stack gets rather deep sometimes) when I needed something to read.
I can definitely say that these older books have things the last couple just don't have. Like interest, growth, care, attention to detail.
