Another accidental reread based on missing logging.
For a wonder, this has almost nothing to do with boats. It has to do with top-end antique American furniture, and modern replicas, and smuggling old-growth mahogany rescued from a shipwreck into the USA by building a crate for some relatively worthless furniture out of it.
That fantastically valuable antique secretary everybody is looking for? There's also a die for forging antique gold coins well enough they can be sold as original stored in it somewhere.
Also very weird amnesia, and the usual many plot twists.
