I read this book about 12-Feb-2014. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1990. This note was last modified Thursday, 20-Mar-2014 17:54:58 PDT.
Haven't reread this in ages, probably not since it first came out. I remember it as in various ways unsatisfactory, not wonderful.
However, it stands up to rereading much better than my memory of it would have suggested. More of the plot actually hangs together, for example.
It is a story of time-stream conflict, which is inherently problemmatic so far as I'm concerned. But it doesn't badly abuse the reasonable limits of that sub-genre.
Huh; I'm surprised to see the Publishers Weekly review echoing pretty much the same view. "Brust's ( Jhereg ) dynamic, inventive style makes this time-hopping, intergalactic thriller a better book than its plot initially suggests."
