Book Note: Steven Brust, Issola (#2)

I read this book about 2/22/2012. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 2001. This note was last modified Friday, 02-May-2014 23:20:24 PDT.

This is book 9 of the "Vlad Taltos" series.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

This is the story of the restoration of Godslayer (now known as Lady Teldra). Did I mention that there are spoilers here?

Vlad, as the wielder of Spellbreaker, the friend of Morollan, Sethra, and Aliera (and even the Necromancer a little I think), and current host of a soul going back to the formation of the Empire, gets hauled in over his head again. Oh, and he's known to Verra as well.

There's a nice bit where Vlad is wondering if the Empress shouldn't pull in the A team to handle this level problem, and realizes that this is the A team, and he's on it somehow.

We meet Jenoine up close and personal. Lady Teldra turns out to speak their language some, which is convenient. And we deal with their alien mindsets a bit. Frequently, the characters wonder what could really be going on, given the Jenoine behavior, which makes no sense. Sometimes they kind of come up with explanations.

The Jenoine are definitely still trying to get Dragaera back. They fail this time (one of the main reasons for the gods is to stop them).
