Book Note: Avram Davidson, The Investigations of Avram Davidson

I read this book about 26-Aug-2001. This is the first time I've read this book. The book is copyright 1999. This note was last modified Thursday, 19-Dec-2002 16:21:11 PST.

This note does not contain major spoilers for the book.

This collection is edited by Grania Davis and Richard A. Lupoff.

Avram Davidson is better known to me as a science fiction and fantasy writer, but he won more awards for mystery than he did for SF.

These stories, so far, have very much the feel that I remember his SF shorts having. Tranquil and distanced, largely. None of them strike me as what I mean by "mysteries".

I'm making very slow progress; about 2/3 of the way through right now, and I'm going to stop. They all seem well-written, but they're not about the world I live in, or people I've ever met. They just aren't connecting for me.
