Book Note: W.E.B. Griffin, Counterattack

I read this book about 30-Nov-2001. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 1990. This note was last modified Saturday, 03-May-2014 21:07:47 PDT.

This is book 3 of the "The Corps" series.

This note does not contain major spoilers for the book.

Looks like I'm going to read further on this reread. Okay.

Counterattack jumps back and begins at Pearl Harbor—the diaster, as well as the location. We don't see much of Pick Pickering at all; but his father plays a bigger role. There's a thread setting up relations with the Australian Coastwatcher establishment which is pretty interesting. And more interesting internal politics.

Still, overall it's not very focused, even if little bits here and there are interesting. This series kinda petered out as I recall, losing focus. It's a pity, since there's so much interesting stuff shown in passing.

We get into Marine aviation; just as the Army books, and the OSS books, manage to get into aviation somehow. I haven't noticed it sneaking into the Philadelphia police yet, anyway.
