By Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. Not a Liaden novel. Nice to see them branching out. I picked this up when they were signing at Uncle Hugo's when they were in town for Marscon.
Lots of fun. The main character is one lucky dude -- born into the captaincy of a free trader, then when he's kicked out there as a kid (political hassle) he's picked up by a master thief and taught those skills. Then he turns out to be the Chosen of the Smiter, too. At least many of these things manifest as problems first, rather than opportunities.
