Still don't like the Flowers books as well as the Davenport books, but this is one of the better ones. And the Flowers books are all outstate, which Sandford seems to me to handle better.

This one involves dog thieves and some people who really love their dogs, and a small-town school board who have been stealing as a team for years and are willing to kill to keep their profit, and a mid-sized meth lab which mostly just gets in the way and confuses things.

This one takes the amusing approach of being set during Field of Prey.
