The T-shirt connects to a discussion a few months ago in Making Light; TNH observed that the early-English scholars were meeting at Kalamazoo that weekend, to which I answered that Kalamazoo had year-round strangeness in the form of change ringing. (20 years they had one of only a couple of dozen usable change-ringing towers in North America.)
