The series that brought David Weber to wide attention. Honor Harrington is his Horatio Hornblower, Richard Bolitho, Lord Ramage, even Jack Aubrey. There's a long tradition of naval stories following an officer's career.

Also the series with such absurd politics in the People's Republic of Haven, and even worse character naming—Weber goes for emulating the French Revolution with characters like Rob S. Pierre.

Kind of a guilty pleasure in some ways. Harrington does a brilliant job of insane naval command when needed, though.

In the later books I do wish somebody would take away his spreadsheet calculating missile attrition at each level of defense.

This series has metastasized so badly that there are multiple related series.
