Convivial

Convivial is the Minn-StF fallcon this year. Laurel Krahn and Kevin Austin ran it, and a good time seems to have been had by all; certainly by me.

The hotel, the Holiday Inn Select over by the airport, was a nice facility. We had two large rooms on the 13th floor for the con suite, and I think many of our sleeping rooms were there too. There was a nice view of both downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul.

The restaurant was pretty decent (not cheap), much better than what the Sheraton South (old Radisson) restaurant has turned into.

The only thing wrong with it was that the desk clerk could neither find my reservation nor recognize the name of the convention, and sent us off to another Holiday Inn a few miles away. And that they attempted to prevent carry permit holders from carrying in the hotel (quite probably, they don't have the right to do so, that right being reserved to the current renters of the rooms for the individual rooms, and the property owner being explicitly forbidden to post; unless that language magically applies only to long-term rentals, i.e. apartments).
